The German intensive Course

If you want to make progress very quickly and you have time for daily lessons, then our intensive German course is the right choice for you. The intensive courses are available for all levels from A1 to C1. In our Intensive Course, you will be placed in a small group consisting on average of eight – with a maximum of twelve – other students. The four basic language skills of listening, reading, writing, and speaking will be the core focus of the intensive course and the optimal combination of vocabulary enhancement and increased communicative skills will be an important priority.

We also offer the Intensive Special course that is a combination of group lessons and private lessons. In addition to the intensive course, you will receive individual lessons in German every day from 12:45PM to 2:15PM, focusing on the areas of language learning that you feel are important to you. This language course can be recognized as Bildungsurlaub (educational leave) in Berlin and Brandenburg. Upon being accepted into one of our German Intensive Courses, you can apply for a language learning visa.

If your aim is to learn German so that you can eventually study in Germany, then our intensive courses are just what you need to achieve this goal. Our general intensive language courses form the basis of your language development. All intensive courses at levels B1, B2 and C1 end with a certified exam which consequently provides you with an early firsthand experience of taking an exam in Germany.

You can also conveniently join our German online courses from home. All you need is a computer, laptop or a tablet.

Ich habe einen C1 Intensiv-Sprachkurs Englisch mit Martin und Nuala absolviert und das hat mir richtig Spaß gemacht. Ich habe viel gelernt und ich wurde durch spannende Themen, die wir in der Gruppe diskutiert haben, gefordert. Wir haben viel gesprochen, das finde ich am wichtigsten beim Sprache lernen. Ich kann die Neue Schule sehr empfehlen, weil die Kurse mit vier Leuten, also oft klein sind. In der zweiten Woche waren wir sogar nur zu zweit. Alle Daumen hoch!!!

Our teacher Eva was a perfect match for me because she is a very well-prepared teacher who structured the lessons with a variety of activities. She even noted our mistakes and prepared lessons focusing on eliminating these mistakes. She is one of the best teachers I have ever seen. Moreover, the office staff at Die Neue Schule, including the administrative staff, is wonderful and very friendly. They solve any problems on behalf of the students and teachers even before they realize it. FAQs German intensive course

What do the letters A, B and C mean?

You know you want to learn German, but you wonder what the letters A, B and C mean? It’s simple: They tell you how advanced your knowledge of a foreign language already is.

Generally, A means it’s the beginner level, B means it’s intermediate and C indicates the advanced level – but it’s a fluent passage between the levels. In accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, we at speakeasy group our courses into these different levels.

Who will be in my class?

You will have a mixture of all kinds of people from all around the world in your German class.

Class sizes are usually between 8 and 10, with a maximum of 12 depending on the classroom. You might find people from Brazil to Australia, or from Bogotá to London. Your classmates will be as diverse as the people you meet in Berlin. Which is a great way to meet new people and potentially make some new friends.

Which qualifications do the teachers have?

All teachers at speakeasy are native speakers, qualified to teach German as a foreign language. Our teachers are from a variety of backgrounds and will use their experience to motivate and support you in class.

How big are the groups in the German courses?

Our groups have 4 to a maximum of 12 participants. The small size of our classes ensures that you will always have the right interaction with your teacher and opportunities to take part.

What languages are spoken in speakeasy language courses?

The class language is always taught in German, although our teachers are multi-lingual and can explain ideas in a variety of languages. Beginner courses (A1.1) receive additional in-class explanations in English until the group becomes accustomed to being taught entirely in German.
