What does level A1 mean in detail?
At level A1 you are able to understand and use very simple sentences (e.g. ask for directions when going shopping). You use familiar and everyday expressions and can communicate in simple language about specific needs (e.g. eating and drinking). In addition to the time and days of the week, you have already learnt numbers and how to write in German. You can already conjugate the most important verbs and can even use the accusative case. You can introduce yourself, answer questions about yourself and ask other people questions about themselves. Even simple introductions are no problem. Do not worry, at level A1 the exchange of information is more important than grammar. You do not yet have to use any difficult grammatical structures.
After approximately 120 lessons, you will have reached this level and be ready for the telc A1 exam. If you still need training for the exam, we recommend that you attend one of our German courses, which will prepare you for the exam in the best possible way
How is the telc A1 exam structured?
The exam consists of a written and a oral part. The written part lasts 65 minutes and tests your knowledge of reading, listening and writing. The oral test, which has no preparation time, tests your oral skills and takes place on the same day as the written test. The skills tested in the Berlin A1 exam are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
